Cool Peel Chemical Peel

Chemical peel treatments involve applying a variety of skin safe chemicals that act as a facial peel. Chemical peels refine your skin’s texture, while treating blemishes, wrinkles, and uneven skin pigmentation. Medical Grade chemical peels were developed specifically for trained skin care professionals and physicians to use where the indications for peeling the skin are present such as the appearance of problematic skin, sun damage, fine lines, uneven texture and tone, and other skin concerns.

To achieve the safest and most effective results, a series of light peels is recommended to effectively improve the skin’s overall appearance while safely maintaining your skin’s natural protective barrier. The goal is healthy, radiantly beautiful skin.

What to Expect

This is a non-invasive, intelligent skin peeling system that safely and effectively helps refine, revive, and brighten the appearance of the skin. Chemical peels helps to regenerate the look and feel of the skin without compromising the benefits of the skin’s natural barrier function. This type of chemical peel maintains the skin’s integrity and helps to improve the skin’s overall appearance, leaving it looking healthy, radiant and visibly more youthful. This treatment includes Red LED light therapy.

Your skin care professional will conduct a thorough consultation with you to obtain a detailed history, discuss your skin concerns and goals and develop a detailed treatment plan.

Proper skin care is required prior to beginning your series of chemical peels to optimize your skin health and enhance your treatment results.

You will receive written pre and post care instructions for your treatment series. Photos are taken to document your progress and changes in your skin during your course of treatment.

The Treatment

This treatment includes a double cleanse and proper skin preparation for the chemical peel. We will select the most appropriate chemical peel based on your skin and your specific skin concerns. We apply protection to your lips and sensitive area prior to the peel. The peel will remain in contact with the skin for the appropriate time based on your skin’s tolerance and response to the chemical. Next, we remove the chemical peel and place you under Red LED light therapy. We then apply targeted serums and a cooling alginate masque to calm and comfort the skin. Your treatment will conclude with an eye treatment, moisturizer, lip masque and mineral SPF.

Pre-Treatment Guidelines

A customized skin care program, including a vitamin A cream or serum, must be used for a minimum of 3 weeks prior to the peeling procedure. Additional products will be included based on your skincare concerns

Stay out of the sun (artificial or environmental) for a minimum of 72 hours prior to your treatment. Peeling services will not be performed if any redness due to sun exposure is present

Discontinue all use of prescription products including retinoids(such as Retin-A and others), topical acne products, hydroquinone, and chemical exfoliating agents such as AHA’s and BHA’s, or other medications for 7 days, or as recommended, after review, by your professional

Avoid microdermabrasion, facial waxing, depilatories, electrolysis or other peeling products or services for at least a week prior to the procedure

If you have a history of Herpes Simplex Virus (cold sores), it is possible for a breakout to surface following treatment. Please mention this to your skin care professional who will direct you to your Primary Care Physician to obtain the recommended antiviral prescription.

Inform the professional if you are pregnant or lactating.

Advise your skin care professional if you had or are having any skin conditions, health issues, chemotherapy or radiation therapy

Inform the professional if you have taken Accutane within the past 12 months.

Post Chemical Peel Care

Following these instructions will maintain your results longer and help you avoid complications.

  • Use a gentle cleanser and cool, not hot, water. Do not use abrasive cleansers, washcloths, Clarisonic, or hot shower spray for the first 24-48 hours.

Do not use cleansers, serums or spot treatments containing retinol, salicylic acid or Benzoyl Peroxide (BPO) for 5 days following treatment.

  • Hydrating and brightening toners applied with a cotton round will penetrate deeper into the skin. If you are sensitive, try all products on a small area before applying to the full face.

  • Active ingredients in serums penetrate much better now, so you’ll see quicker results. Please do not use the alcohol or acid forms of Retin-A for 5 days pre and post dermaplaning. *Your Environ products are safe to use starting tomorrow.

  • Choose a hydrating moisturizer and apply twice daily. It’s common for skin to feel tight but dewy to the touch. This is good and will only last a short time. Moisturizer locks in skin’s hydration with the added absorption of its active ingredients.

  • Your skin is more vulnerable to UV rays after exfoliation. A mineral SPF is essential to protect your skin - even on cloudy days when UVA (aging) rays are present. Avoid sun exposure as much as possible. If you must be in the sun, apply and reapply a mineral SPF every 2 hours, wear a hat and seek shade.

  • Makeup can irritate skin after dermaplaning. Bacteria, alcohols, colorants and fragrance are all irritants that can cause contact dermatitis. Be sure to clean your makeup brushes, replace your sponges and apply clean (new) makeup to minimize risks.

  • Avoid exposure to excessive heat, heavy workouts, steam rooms and saunas for 24-48 hours post treatment.

Wait 7 days before having any facial waxing done. Waxing may be done prior to dermaplaning. The esthetician will only dermaplane up to the waxing border so as not to over stress your skin.
